Changing Majors

Change Your Major to Civil or Environmental Engineering!

Change of major requests will be approved only if you have satisfied the following criteria.

For all students who matriculated to UC Davis as First Year Students:

You must:

1. Be a registered student and have completed at least 1 quarter (12 units minimum) at UC Davis
2. Have fewer than 135 cumulative units (excluding AP credits)
3. Be in good academic standing and meet minimum progress requirements
4. Have letter grades for all courses satisfying Engineering degree requirements
5. Have completed the following core courses:
       • MAT 21A, 21B, 21C
       • PHY 9A
       • CHE 2A
6. Have a 2.000 GPA or better in all completed MAT, PHY, BIS, GEL, and CHE courses for your intended major, with C- or better in each
7. Have no grade lower than C- in any required engineering course taken at UC Davis
8. Have a 2.000 UC GPA in completed engineering courses

For all students who matriculated to UC Davis as Transfer Students: 

You must meet all the criteria above, plus:

• Have completed all transfer admission coursework and GPA requirements

• Have a 3.2 GPA from previous institution(s) in specified coursework
