Bio

Dr. De Finnda (formerly Finnerty) is interested in understanding water challenges at the nexus of food, energy, society, and the environment to develop effective socio-technical interventions that revitalize our infrastructure to better serve the public. While climate change provides no shortage of challenges that need to be addressed, the focus of the Water-Nexus Lab is to close the loop of wastewater management by facilitating water reuse, enabling resource recovery, and mitigating pollution. To this end, the lab is researching membrane and thermal treatment technologies to create artificial endpoints for wastewater; using data analysis and techno-economic analysis to develop decision-making tools for sustainable water management; and engaging stakeholders to evaluate the potential of valorizing constituents from wastewater.
