This UC Davis award “recognizes significant contributions to the world, nation, state, local community through distinguished public service.”
The Academic Senate is the University of California’s faculty government. Through the Senate, faculty work in partnership with the administration to govern and fulfill UC's missions of teaching, research and public service.
Chiefly responsible for UC’s high-quality education, the Academic Senate approves and oversees courses and curricula, and establishes requirements for admissions, certificates and degrees. It also advises the administration on budgetary, personnel and other matters pertinent to UC operations. Senate authorities are defined by the Board of Regents.
