Steps to Meet Your Mandatory Advising Requirement

If you have completed the Annual Mandatory Advising Requirement and have an active advising hold from CEE (or one placed after meeting the requirement), please contact us at civiladvising@ucdavis.edu to have it removed.

*Returning Students & Change of Major (Non-CEE Students)

  • Returning Students: Meet with a Major Advisor
  • You will need to complete your Mandatory Advising prior to your returning quarter. Please contact us at civiladvising@ucdavis.edu and let us know that you are a returning student requesting an appointment with a Major Advisor. This appointment will fulfill your Mandatory Advising requirement.

Prior to your meeting with the major advisor, feel welcome to create and save an academic plan for your next 6 upcoming quarters in OASIS, make sure to title it "Returning - Academic Plan".

Use the following to support you on your planning:
♦   The worksheets available on your major page, course schedule & degree worksheet.
♦   The digital degree worksheet in OASIS, which syncs with your academic record.

NOTE: Do not submit your academic plan—just save it. If you have already submitted it, please cancel the submission. Major advisor will revise and submit your plan for approval.
  • Change of Major (Non-CEE Students):  Meet with Peer Advisors
  • You are not required to complete Mandatory Advising until you are officially in the major. However, while you are working toward meeting the change of major requirements, we strongly recommend connecting with our Peer Advisors regularly—at least twice during the academic year. If your change of major process is or becomes complex, the Peer Advisors will connect you with a Major Advisor.

You can create and save an academic plan for your next six quarters in OASIS. Be sure to title it "Change of Major – Academic Plan." If you are a student-athlete, title it "APF Change of Major – Academic Plan." Once completed, bring your plan to the Peer Advisors for review.

Use the following to support you on your planning:
♦   The worksheets available on your major page, course schedule & degree worksheet.
♦   The digital degree worksheet in OASIS, which syncs with your academic record.

NOTE: Do not submit your academic plan—just save it in OASIS. If you have already submitted it, please cancel the submission. If your current Major Advisor or Athlete Advisor requires an approved academic plan from a CEE Major Advisor, please inform the Peer Advisor so they can notify the Major Advisors accordingly.
